Fridays in Fall have been busy at SSCCA! Today students in grades 1 through 6 tested their knowledge of spelling in a rousing Spelling Bee. The competition was especially vigorous in first and second grade, with our first grade finalists going thirteen rounds, and our second grade finalists going ten rounds.
After a morning of spelling, seventh and eighth graders tested their knowledge geography in a challenging geography bee. The geography bee is about much more than just memorizing capital cities. Geography is the understanding of the world, its people, climate, landforms, political systems, culture, economies and ecosystems. The wide range of questions in the geography bee reflect this.
